Elementary Homeschool World Music Class

Service Description

**Please read the entire class description** A magical 8 week journey through the world of music. We will visit amazing places likes the savannas of Africa (Lion King), the middle eastern city of Agrabah (Aladdin), the cold Norwegian forest (Frozen), ancient China (Mulan), the hopping Jazz city of New Orleans (Princess and the Frog), and the beautiful and lush country of Scotland/Ireland (Brave). Each week we will examine new instruments and sounds from around the world while sampling songs from each of the Disney films set in those regions. Each class ends with a Disney sing-along and sharing time with our virtual friends. All of the classes will be recorded and available via a private YouTube playlist (recordings will only be available through the duration of the class). So no worries if you have to miss a week. Each class will last between 40 and 50 minutes. Here is a week by week syllabus of our class. Week 1 - Instrument Families (Strings/Woodwinds) Week 2 - Instrument Families (Brass/Percussion/Electronic) Week 3 - Lion King - African Instruments and Sounds Week 4 - Aladdin - Middle Eastern Instruments and Sounds Week 5 - Frozen - Northern Europe Instruments and Sounds Week 6 - Mulan - Chinese and other Far East Instruments and Sounds Week 7 - Princess and the Frog - New Orleans Jazz and Fusion Instruments and Sounds Week 8 - Brave - Scottish and Irish Instruments and Sounds Class begins March 11 and ends May 13 (no class on March 25 and April 1 for Spring Break).
