Private Lessons

Private Lesson Information and Policies

Jim Ellis is working composer and performer in the Baltimore/Washington area.  He has earned a degree in music composition from the Berklee School of Music, and studied music education at the Univ. of Maryland.  Jim currently is working towards a masters degree in music composition at Berklee College of Music with concentrations in music for film, TV, and games.  He is also an experienced professional actor and conductor of choirs, orchestras, and bands.

Instruments Offered

1.  Piano (beginner to intermediate)

2.  Clarinet (beginner to advanced)

3.  Saxophone (beginner to advanced)

4.  Music Theory and Composition (beginner to advanced)

Polices and Cost

  • Lessons are $28/lesson

  • Each lesson lasts between 30 and 40 minutes

  • Lesson length is directly influenced by the student's level of preparation

  • Lessons are paid in advance on the 1st of each month

  • Each student gets one lesson credit per semester (Sep. - Dec. and Jan. - June)​​

    • Each student can miss once per semester and the lesson will be credited ​back to your account

    • After exhausting the credit, there are no refunds for missed lessons

    • Make-up lessons are a possibility, but not guaranteed

  • If Jim cancels a lesson then a $28 credit will be added to your account​

Lesson spots are extremely limited and are reserved for those students who demonstrate an effort to practice, grow, and improve.  Recital and performance opportunities are encouraged.
